The City of Reno Parks and Recreation department manages local sports leagues, youth activities, health and wellness services, and municipal parks. Residents and visitors seeking to participate in city-run programs or use specific facilities must first establish a household account.
Program Registration
To register for City of Reno programs, users must complete a Household Account Form. This form requires updates every two years or whenever account holder information changes. An email address is required for online registration.

Tahoe Basin Recreation
Recreation in the Tahoe basin involves travel through high-elevation mountain passes. Visitors should monitor road status, particularly during winter months, before traveling to regional parks.
The Kings Beach State Recreation Area (KBSRA) on the north shore of Lake Tahoe is managed by California State Parks. Public access remains open, though winter access to the parking lot at the North Tahoe Events Center depends on snow removal operations. Before traveling to the north shore, verify SR-28 road conditions and SR-267 road conditions.
Terrain Parks
Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe operates two primary terrain parks. Access to these areas requires driving SR-431. Before departing, check SR-431 Mt Rose road conditions to confirm if chain controls are in effect.
- Pondo Park: Located on the Ponderosa run at the bottom of Kit Carson Bowl. Access is provided via the Northwest Express, Lakeview Express, or Galena chairlifts.
- DoubleDown: Located off the Mine Train run under the Zephyr chairlift. Access is provided via the Zephyr Express chairlift.
Terrain parks contain features designed for specific skill levels. Use of these areas requires understanding the "Smart Style" Terrain Park Safety initiative, which emphasizes proper use and awareness of feature difficulty. Guests are encouraged to educate themselves on park-specific offerings before attempting features.
