The Discovery Museum at 490 S. Center Street in Reno runs hands-on Halloween maker sessions in The Shop. The "Open Build: Last Minute Halloween" series lets visitors design props, monster mask horns, and costume accessories using real shop tools:

Carson City and Regional Haunted Houses
South of Reno along the US-395 road conditions corridor, the historic Nevada State Prison in Carson City operates the Dark Prison Haunted House. Built in 1862 and closed in 2012, the 32,000-square-foot stone facility runs three haunt routes: Cellblock C, Unit 15, and the Institute for the Unwell.
The season concludes with Flashlight Night on Sunday, November 1, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM:
- House lights are turned off across all three haunts.
- Each group receives 1 flashlight at the gate; outside flashlights, lasers, and glow items are strictly banned.
- 60 or more live actors patrol the sets.
- General admission is $34.95 with timed entries every 30 minutes from 6:00 PM to 10:30 PM.
- VIP admission is $74.95 with slots between 6:00 PM and 9:30 PM.
