October weather in the Sierra Nevada can change rapidly. Before traveling between Reno and Lake Tahoe for events, verify current conditions. Chain controls may be active on mountain passes depending on early-season storms.
Review I-80 road conditions and US-50 road conditions before departure. If driving over the Mt. Rose Highway, consult SR-431 Mt Rose road conditions and view the SR-431 at Mt Rose Summit webcam to assess current visibility and surface conditions.
