Truckee 4th of July Parade

The annual Truckee parade takes place on July 4th. The procession begins at 9:45 a.m. The route runs along Donner Pass Road, from the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District Administrative Office to downtown Truckee.

If you are planning to travel into the mountains for these events, monitor SR-89 road conditions and SR-28 road conditions as these routes experience heavy volume during the holiday.

County officials enforce strict rules regarding fire safety and river use during the holiday period.

Fireworks

All fireworks are illegal in unincorporated Placer County, including the Lake Tahoe Basin. This prohibition applies to all types, including those labeled "safe and sane" sold at roadside stands. Violators may be charged with a misdemeanor and face fines up to $2,000 per violation.

Truckee River Alcohol Ban

Alcohol is banned on the Truckee River from July 1–6. This prohibition includes the possession of open alcoholic containers in and along both sides of the river, including bridges and islands, from the outfall at Lake Tahoe in Tahoe City to the upstream edge of the Alpine Meadows Bridge.

Businesses with a valid liquor license located along the river are excluded from this ban. The Placer County Sheriff’s Office will increase enforcement throughout the North Lake Tahoe Basin during the holiday weekend.
