What this camera shows
At an elevation of 4,393 feet, this camera sits significantly lower than the cameras at Highland Flats and Sweetwater Summit. Because of this position in the valley, this view often remains clear or shows only rain when the higher elevations to the west are already experiencing heavy snow or storm conditions. Seeing pavement here while the higher cameras show accumulation helps clarify if a storm is still localized to the peaks or if conditions are beginning to drop into the lower terrain.
This feed provides a live video stream, which distinguishes it from still images that only refresh periodically. By watching the movement of traffic in real-time, it is possible to gauge the flow of vehicles and detect if there are sudden stoppages or slow-downs caused by visibility issues or road incidents. If the frame appears dark or obscured, checking back after a few minutes is recommended to confirm if the issue is a temporary obstruction or a persistent weather event.
