At an elevation of 3,998 feet, this camera sits significantly lower than the major mountain passes like Echo Summit. Because of this elevation, precipitation here is often rain rather than snow, even when the higher elevations are actively experiencing winter conditions. Drivers should use this view to gauge the transition between the lower valley and the steeper grades ahead. If this feed displays wet pavement while cameras at higher elevations show accumulating snow, it indicates that road conditions are changing rapidly as you climb.
