What this camera shows

This live video feed provides a direct look at traffic flow at 3,264 feet, positioned almost exactly level with the nearby Riverton facility. Because it sits at this lower elevation, the view often captures rain or clear pavement even when storms are depositing heavy snow just a few miles up the grade at Fresh Pond. Seeing the road conditions here helps determine if precipitation is transitioning from rain to snow as you climb toward the higher mountain passes.

Since this is a live video stream rather than a static image, it is the most reliable way to spot immediate traffic stoppages or slow-downs before you commit to the climb.
