Las Vegas Without a Car: Deuce, Monorail and Walking

The Deuce runs the Strip 24 hours for $8 a day in 2026, and the Monorail links 7 stations every 4 to 8 minutes. Fares, hours and when to walk.

The short answer: on the Strip and Downtown, a car is optional. The RTC's Deuce bus runs Las Vegas Boulevard 24 hours a day, at $8 for a 24-hour pass in 2026. The Monorail covers the east side of the Strip from MGM Grand to SAHARA, with trains every 4 to 8 minutes. Walking fills the gaps, except in a July heat wave.

The Deuce

The Deuce starts at the Bonneville Transit Center by Fremont Street and heads south through the Arts District, past the STRAT and down the Boulevard. South of Mandalay Bay it stops at the Welcome to Las Vegas sign, Town Square, the South Premium Outlets and the Rent-A-Car Center. It ends at the South Strip Transit Terminal.

Buses come every 10 to 15 minutes from 7 a.m. to 1 a.m., and about every 20 minutes overnight. The RTC's August 2026 timetable says the ticket machines at the stops take only cash. From November 17 to 25, 2026, the Deuce runs a modified schedule and route for Formula 1.

The Monorail

The 7 stations, south to north, are MGM Grand, Horseshoe/Paris, Flamingo/Caesars Palace, Harrah's/The LINQ, Boingo Station at the LVCC, Westgate and SAHARA. The track is 3.9 miles, and an end-to-end ride takes about 15 minutes. Stations sit at the back of the resorts, so add a walk through the casino.

Trains run from 7 a.m. every day. They stop at midnight on Mondays, 2 a.m. Tuesday to Thursday, and 3 a.m. Friday to Sunday. One ride is $6.25 ($5.75 as an eTicket), and a 1-day pass $15.50. Nevada residents with a state ID pay $1 a ride at the customer service booths.

Check the date before you plan a late night. The operator lists early closures at midnight on October 29, November 29 to December 2, December 6 to 10 and December 13 to 15, 2026, and at 1 a.m. on December 3. For the race, trains run nonstop from 7 a.m. Tuesday, November 17 to 3 a.m. Monday, November 23.

Walking and the Loop

The Strip is 4.2 miles from Russell Road to Sahara Avenue. Mandalay Bay to Bellagio is about 1.5 miles; Bellagio to Sahara Avenue is about 2 more. In July the normal high at the airport is 104.5°F, so ride in the afternoon and walk after dark; the Las Vegas weather guide has every month.

The Boring Company's Vegas Loop runs electric cars through tunnels. FOX5 reported in September 2026 that it operates 14 stations, including the LVCC, Resorts World, Encore, Fontainebleau and SAHARA.

Las Vegas Advisor reported in June 2026 that rides inside the five LVCC stations are free and that Encore to Resorts World or Westgate costs $4.25 one way. The operator's own fares were not available to us.

Parking, if you bring a car anyway

Wynn and Encore charge non-guests $25 a day for self-parking, with the first 3 hours free, in 2026. Treasure Island, SAHARA and Circus Circus told KLAS on March 3, 2026 that parking is free for their guests; Circus Circus said for all visitors.

The MGM and Caesars garages post their rates at the entrance, and both groups changed them in 2025 and 2026, so read the sign.

Downtown, the Four Queens charges hotel guests $5 a day in its garage, and the Fremont Street Experience garage gives a 15-minute grace period before fees start.

Who should not go car-free

Anyone planning a day out of town needs wheels or a tour: Red Rock Canyon is 17 miles west and no Deuce goes there. A stay in Summerlin or Henderson is a long ride from either line.

For those trips, see car rental at Las Vegas airport. For the first ride in from the terminals, see the airport to the Strip, and the rest of the region is on the Las Vegas guide.
