The short answer: no rental counter sits inside the terminals at Las Vegas. All 10 companies work from the Harry Reid Rent-A-Car Center at 7135 Gilespie Street, 3 miles south of the airport by the airport's own description. A shuttle runs there from Terminal 1 and Terminal 3. If your trip never leaves the Strip, you can probably do without the car.
| Company | Counter and cars | How you get there |
|---|---|---|
| Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National, Payless, Sixt, Thrifty | Rent-A-Car Center, 7135 Gilespie St | The shared airport shuttle from T1 or T3 |
| Off-site agencies (the airport does not name them) | Their own lots | The shared shuttle to the Center, then the agency's pickup in the middle south lane |
From the gate to the Rent-A-Car Center
At Terminal 1, collect your bags on Level 1 and follow the Ground Transportation signs. The rental car shuttle stops outside doors 10 and 11. At Terminal 3, baggage claim is on Level Zero, and the shuttle stops at both ends of the terminal.
The airport's rental car page gives no shuttle hours or frequency, so leave slack in the timing. Through December 2026, the northbound and southbound connector tunnels have lane closures for repaving, and the airport says shuttle traffic is down to one lane. Leave extra time on the way back to the terminal.
Off-site companies collect their customers in the middle south lane, under posted signs, after you walk out of the Center's main entrance. If someone is meeting you there, short-term parking at the Center costs $3 an hour, with a 1-hour minimum and a 3-hour maximum.
What the total will include
Nevada adds a short-term lessor fee of 10% of the lease charges, under NRS 482.313; that rate has applied since October 1, 2009. Clark County adds a 2% car rental fee. Both come from the Nevada Department of Taxation.
Quotes at LAS usually carry two airport charges as well: a customer facility charge for the building and a concession fee. The airport does not publish either figure on its own site, and the figures that circulate online do not come from the airport. Read the final total on your quote, not the daily rate.
The Clark County Department of Aviation runs the Center, and an airport spokesperson told Las Vegas Advisor it took in $86.6 million in fiscal 2023.
Do you need a car on the Strip at all?
For a Strip-only stay, no. The Deuce bus runs the length of Las Vegas Boulevard 24 hours a day, and a 24-hour pass was $8 in 2026. The Monorail links 7 stations from MGM Grand to SAHARA, and one ride costs $6.25. Airport taxis charge flat zone fares of $22.25 to $30.25 before extras.
Many Strip resorts also charge for parking. Wynn charged non-guests $25 a day after 3 free hours in 2026, and the MGM and Caesars garages post rates that changed in 2025 and 2026. The details are on getting around Las Vegas without a car, and the ride from the terminals is on getting from the airport to the Strip.
For day trips, yes. Red Rock Canyon is 17 miles west, and its Scenic Drive needs a timed-entry booking from October 1 to May 31. Hoover Dam is about 32 miles away. Valley of Fire is about 57 miles, at $15 a vehicle for cars without Nevada plates. Death Valley is about 119 miles via Pahrump.
Who should not rent at all
Convention visitors have the Monorail's Boingo Station at the LVCC. A Downtown stay has the Deuce from Fremont Street, every 10 to 15 minutes in the daytime. A two-night trip with one show and no day trip pays for a car that spends most of the stay in a garage.
Book a car for the days you leave town, not the whole stay. The Deuce stops at the Rent-A-Car Center, so you can ride there from the Strip on the morning you need it.
Reno's airport works the other way, with counters in baggage claim; that is on the Reno airport car rental page. The rest of the region is on the Las Vegas guide.
