Reno Off-Leash Dog Parks
The City of Reno operates four designated off-leash areas. Owners must keep dogs on a leash when entering and exiting these gated areas, maintain verbal control, and pick up waste. Female dogs in heat are prohibited. All dogs must have a current license. Report dog bites to Washoe County Animal Services at 775-353-8900.

Pet Access at Palisades Tahoe
Pet policies at Palisades Tahoe change by season.
Winter: Pets are not permitted on ski runs or chairlifts. This includes transporting animals in backpacks. At Alpine, dogs are prohibited from the sundeck and breezeway of the main lodge.
Summer: Leashed dogs are permitted in the Village at Palisades Tahoe and in parking lots year-round. During summer months, dogs on leashes may ride the Aerial Tram to High Camp. Dogs ride for free, though a $10 optional pet pass is available, with proceeds supporting the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe. Dogs are allowed on designated hiking trails. Cushing Pond, located behind the KT Base Bar, is available for swimming.
Always check current SR-431 Mt Rose road conditions before heading toward the resort, as mountain pass status can limit access.

Truckee-Tahoe Resources
The Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe (HSTT) provides community services including low-cost spay/neuter clinics, pet medical grants, and a pet pantry.
The Thrifty Tails Boutique, located at 12047 Donner Pass Road in the West Town Center, sells used goods, with net proceeds supporting HSTT programs. Those looking to foster or volunteer must complete orientation or training processes; contact the organization directly for current requirements.
If you are traveling through the region, monitor I-80 road conditions for potential chain controls or closures that may affect travel time to Truckee or North Lake Tahoe. For routes approaching from the south or east, check US-395 road conditions.
Lodging and Boarding
Not all accommodations allow pets. Non-service pets are generally not permitted in rooms at The Village at Palisades Tahoe. The PlumpJack Inn, located across from the Tram Building, permits dogs in rooms and on their outdoor patio. An additional cleaning fee applies.
