What this camera shows
This live video stream captures southbound traffic moving past the Summit Mall area. At an elevation of 4,552 feet, this camera sits at a lower point than the nearby Steamboat Hill Bridge, but it is higher than the Villanova On Ramp. Because this feed provides continuous motion, it is the most reliable way to gauge immediate traffic flow and speed through this specific section of the corridor. Observing the movement here helps determine if vehicles are maintaining pace or slowing down as they approach the higher elevation changes further south.
Unlike still images that refresh periodically, this video feed allows for real-time monitoring of road surface conditions. If the pavement appears wet or icy here, you can compare that against the higher-elevation cameras to see if precipitation is intensifying or tapering off as you travel. Checking this feed helps verify if traffic is flowing freely or if there are unexpected delays that might not yet be visible from the lower-elevation cameras.
