What this camera shows

At 8,149 feet, this camera sits significantly higher than the Bridgeport station to the north. Because of this elevation difference, conditions here often diverge from the lower sections of the highway. While the Bridgeport view might show clear pavement, this location frequently captures the onset of snow or icy conditions first. Checking this feed provides the most accurate assessment of whether the higher mountain grade is beginning to accumulate moisture or freeze, allowing for better decision-making before committing to the climb.

This camera provides a still image that refreshes approximately once a minute, offering a static snapshot of surface conditions. If the frame appears dark or obscured by heavy fog, wait for the next refresh cycle to confirm visibility rather than assuming the road is blocked. Relying on this specific view helps differentiate between isolated valley weather and the more volatile, high-altitude conditions that develop on the summit.
