Participation and Logistics
To participate in the drink specials, you must purchase an official cup and map. These are available at participating bars, though quantities are limited. Retailers, including Chocolate Walrus, Junkee Clothing Exchange, and Adam & Eve locations in Reno and Carson City, also sell cups.
Participants are not required to dress specifically as Santa. Elf, Grinch, and other holiday-themed costumes are common. Because the event spans a significant area of downtown, wear comfortable footwear. Pets are not permitted.
Safety and Regulations
The Reno Police Department monitors the event. In 2015, there were 15 arrests out of approximately 15,000 participants. Attendees are expected to use public restrooms and avoid prohibited behaviors, such as throwing projectiles. If you consume alcohol, arrange for a taxi or ride-share service.

For dining, downtown casinos offer various options, including steakhouses and coffee shops. Local restaurants such as Silver Peak Brewery, China Diner, Gold N’ Silver Inn, Wild River Grille, Noble Pie Parlor, and Pho 777 are also available.
