Nevada State Parks requires day-use vehicle reservations for entry to Sand Harbor State Park. Parking inside the park is limited, and the facility frequently reaches capacity during peak hours.
Parking along Highway 28 is prohibited. Vehicles parked on the shoulder of the highway will be towed.

Visitors must secure a parking reservation to guarantee entry. If you do not have a reservation, you may be turned away if the parking lot is full.
For those without a vehicle reservation, the East Shore Express provides shuttle service from Incline Village to Sand Harbor. This service operates from the end of June through Labor Day weekend.
Driving to Sand Harbor
The park is located at 2005 Highway 28 in Incline Village. From Reno, the most common route involves taking I-580 south, transitioning to Mt. Rose Highway (NV-431) west, and following signs to NV-28.

Alternatives to Sand Harbor
If Sand Harbor is at capacity or reservations are unavailable, consider these alternative locations:
- Spooner Lake and Backcountry: A Nevada State Park offering lake views and 50 miles of trails. Check US-50 road conditions before heading south toward this area.
- Kings Beach State Recreation Area: Located on the California side, this site offers sandy beaches and a playground.
- Clearly Tahoe: This operator offers guided tours on the water, which can provide an alternative way to experience the lake if you cannot secure parking at a state park.
For those traveling from further away, monitor I-80 road conditions if your route includes the mountain pass from the west.
