Travel and Road Conditions
Travel to and from Tahoe for holiday events often requires mountain driving. Check I-80 road conditions and US-50 road conditions before departure, as chain controls can be enacted rapidly during March weather events. If driving toward the mountains, consult SR-431 Mt Rose road conditions to verify if the pass is open.

St. Patrick’s Day Events in Reno and Sparks
- Grand Sierra Resort: The resort is hosting the $30,000 Shamrock Sweepstakes throughout March, with a Grand Finale Drawing on March 28. Dining and drink specials are available at the Grand Café, Chickie’s and Pete’s, and the Crystal Lounge.
- Ceol Irish Pub: Located on California Avenue, this venue offers an environment for Guinness and traditional Irish pub service.
- Reno Leprechaun Crawl: Scheduled for Saturday, March 14, in downtown Reno. Participants receive a map and a commemorative cup that provides access to drink deals at 20 participating locations.
- Reno Leprechaun Race: Taking place on March 15, the race starts and finishes at City Plaza. The course routes through downtown Reno and MidTown.
Lake Tahoe Area Events
If traveling to the mountains, note that mountain road conditions can change quickly. Check SR-28 road conditions or SR-89 road conditions if heading to the North Lake Tahoe area.
- Granlibakken Tahoe: A St. Patrick’s Day dinner is scheduled for March 17 at 725 Granlibakken Road, Tahoe City. The menu features traditional Irish meals and a drink menu including Irish coffee, whiskeys, and Guinness.
- The Auld Dubliner (Palisades Tahoe): This venue in the Village at Palisades Tahoe hosts a weekend of celebrations. The menu includes Shepherd’s Pie, corned beef and cabbage, fish and chips, and boxtys. On Tuesday, March 17, the schedule features traditional Irish music with Keith and Dan Shannon and DJ John Patrick.
