What this camera shows

At 7,037 feet, this camera provides a crucial mid-elevation view between the higher Crestview camera at 7,529 feet and the lower vantage point at McGee Creek Road at 6,906 feet. Because it sits between these two points, it serves as an early indicator of shifting conditions. If the higher Crestview view shows accumulating snow while this camera remains clear, it suggests that winter weather is currently contained to the higher elevations. Conversely, if this view shows snow beginning to stick, it is a strong signal that conditions are dropping toward the lower elevations and may soon impact the entire stretch.

This feed updates as a still image roughly once every minute. Because of this refresh rate, a single frame showing darkness or heavy fog can be misleading. If the screen appears obscured, wait for the next refresh to see if the visibility clears or if the conditions are genuinely deteriorating. Relying on this view in conjunction with the higher and lower cameras provides the most accurate picture of how weather is moving through this specific section of the corridor.
