Storm alerts
A notification on this device when chain control starts, changes or lifts, or a road closes or reopens. Pick your roads:
An alert is a heads-up that something changed, not a road report, and it can arrive a few minutes after the change. Before you drive, check Caltrans QuickMap or Nevada 511 (nvroads.com), or call 511. A few alerts a day at most; no account, no email, and you can turn them off here any time (what we keep).

What this camera shows
This camera sits at 6,286 feet, placing it lower in elevation than the chain-control points at Ebrights, Emerald Bay, and Bliss State Park. Because it is positioned well below these higher mountain passes, this view often shows clear or wet pavement even when conditions at the higher control points require chains or indicate heavy snow. Watching this feed helps determine if precipitation is reaching the valley floor or if the storm is currently limited to the higher, more hazardous stretches of the highway.
Since this feed is live video, it shows current surface accumulation and the traffic moving over it. If the frame appears dark or obscured by heavy fog, wait for the next update to confirm visibility. Comparing this low-elevation view against the camera at Tahoe City helps isolate whether a weather system is impacting the entire shoreline or just specific sections of the route.
