What this camera shows
This live video feed provides a direct look at traffic flow on the northeast side of the McCarran interchange. Because this camera sits at 4,483 feet, it captures conditions at a slightly higher elevation than the nearby Plumb Airport camera. When winter storms roll through, this view is often the first indicator of whether precipitation is accumulating on the pavement or simply melting upon contact. Watching the movement here helps determine if traffic is flowing freely or if an incident near the interchange is causing congestion that might not be visible from the southwest side of the loop.
Since this feed streams live video rather than refreshing as a still image, it is particularly useful for gauging the speed of traffic during poor visibility. If the view appears obscured, check back in a few minutes, as changing wind patterns can quickly clear the lens or shift the intensity of passing squalls. This perspective confirms whether vehicles are maintaining highway speeds or if conditions have deteriorated enough to warrant caution before continuing further along the route.
