Storm alerts
A notification on this device when chain control starts, changes or lifts, or a road closes or reopens. Pick your roads:
An alert is a heads-up that something changed, not a road report, and it can arrive a few minutes after the change. Before you drive, check Caltrans QuickMap or Nevada 511 (nvroads.com), or call 511. A few alerts a day at most; no account, no email, and you can turn them off here any time (what we keep).

What this camera shows
This camera sits at an elevation of 6,909 feet, placing it right between the lower Twin Bridges area and the higher Echo Summit pass. Because it is positioned roughly three miles away from both the Twin Bridges and Echo Summit chain-control points, it acts as a critical transition monitor. If the higher Echo Summit camera shows heavy accumulation or active snowfall while this view remains relatively clear, it often indicates that chain controls are currently confined to the upper elevations. Seeing wet pavement here versus snow at the summit suggests the transition line is holding steady above this point.
Since this is live video, it shows immediate surface conditions and traffic flow at once. If the image appears black or obscured by fog, wait for the next refresh cycle before making travel decisions, as visibility can change quickly at this altitude. Checking this view alongside the cameras at Twin Bridges and Echo Summit helps identify whether conditions are deteriorating or improving as you approach the pass.
