What this camera shows

Situated at 4,450 feet, this location sits significantly lower than the nearest chain-control points at Mogul, which is at 4,724 feet, and Gold Ranch, at 5,019 feet. Because of this elevation difference, the camera often remains clear even when weather impacts higher sections of the interstate. Observing this feed allows for a comparison against conditions at the higher-altitude cameras to determine if storm activity is moving down the grade toward the valley floor.

The live video stream provides a real-time look at traffic flow, which is useful for identifying whether vehicles are maintaining speed or experiencing delays.
