At 4,569 feet, this camera sits below the primary chain-control points at Mogul and Gold Ranch. Because it is lower in elevation than the control stations located 5 and 9 miles to the west, it often remains clear even when weather conditions deteriorate further up the grade. Monitoring this view helps determine if precipitation is accumulating at the base of the mountain or if the transition to winter conditions is moving down from higher elevations.
