What this camera shows

At an elevation of 3,943 feet, this live video feed provides a look at conditions well below the primary chain-control points located at Mogul and the Gold Ranch stateline. Because this position is significantly lower than those checkpoints, the pavement here often remains clear even when winter storms have triggered restrictions at higher elevations. Watching this feed helps identify if weather systems are pushing far enough east to impact the lower desert stretches before reaching the mountain passes.

The live video stream allows for immediate observation of traffic flow, which is helpful for gauging if incidents are causing delays on this flatter section of the route. While nearby cameras at Stoker Overpass and Tracy-Clark monitor higher terrain, this view serves as a baseline for the base of the grade.
