This live video feed captures the current flow of traffic just east of the McCarran Boulevard interchange. At an elevation of 4,766 feet, this location sits slightly higher than the chain-control point at Mogul, which is located about 4 miles away at 4,724 feet. Because this position is positioned between the Mogul control point and the higher elevations near the California state line, it serves as a critical indicator of whether weather conditions are worsening as vehicles move toward the higher mountain passes.
Since this feed provides a continuous video stream rather than a static image, it is the most reliable way to determine if traffic is flowing freely or if an incident has caused a backup. Observing this view alongside the camera at the Mogul truck check allows for a direct comparison of road surface conditions across this specific segment of the grade.
