At an elevation of 4,427 feet, this location sits well below the nearest chain-control points at Mogul and Gold Ranch. Because this point is significantly lower in elevation than those mountain stations, conditions here often remain clear even when higher-altitude cameras begin to show winter accumulation. Watching this stream helps determine if local congestion is building at the ramp before reaching the higher, more exposed sections of the route.
