Storm alerts
A notification on this device when chain control starts, changes or lifts, or a road closes or reopens. Pick your roads:
An alert is a heads-up that something changed, not a road report, and it can arrive a few minutes after the change. Before you drive, check Caltrans QuickMap or Nevada 511 (nvroads.com), or call 511. A few alerts a day at most; no account, no email, and you can turn them off here any time (what we keep).

What this camera shows
This perspective sits at 6,256 feet, placing it near the base of the climb before the route begins its steeper ascent toward Brockway Summit. Because it is located below the primary chain-control point at Stewart Way, this view often reveals conditions at the lower transition zone before drivers reach the higher, more exposed elevations. If the pavement appears wet or clear here while the camera at Brockway Summit shows active snow accumulation, it indicates that conditions are deteriorating rapidly as elevation increases.
This one is a live video stream, not a refreshing still. Because it is positioned at a lower elevation, the frame frequently shows clear pavement even when higher, colder sections of the route are experiencing significant winter weather. If the image appears dark or obscured by fog, wait for the next refresh cycle to confirm the current visibility, as conditions at this altitude can change quickly during incoming storms.
