Storm alerts
A notification on this device when chain control starts, changes or lifts, or a road closes or reopens. Pick your roads:
An alert is a heads-up that something changed, not a road report, and it can arrive a few minutes after the change. Before you drive, check Caltrans QuickMap or Nevada 511 (nvroads.com), or call 511. A few alerts a day at most; no account, no email, and you can turn them off here any time (what we keep).

What this camera shows
At 5,152 feet, this camera sits at about the same height as the camera just down the corridor, but lies nearly two hundred feet below the view further east toward Halleck. Official chain-control checkpoints are not established in this immediate stretch, leaving winter travelers to rely on visual surface changes. When Halleck shows accumulated snow or slush while this lens captures bare lanes, the freezing line remains perched slightly higher up the grade.
Traffic moves steadily across the live video stream, providing an immediate read on whether vehicles kick up heavy spray from standing water or encounter genuine traction problems on the asphalt. Because temperatures can hold right around freezing during valley storms, tracking tire spray here helps confirm whether precipitation is passing as rain or settling directly onto the travel lanes before heading into higher terrain.
