Storm alerts
A notification on this device when chain control starts, changes or lifts, or a road closes or reopens. Pick your roads:
An alert is a heads-up that something changed, not a road report, and it can arrive a few minutes after the change. Before you drive, check Caltrans QuickMap or Nevada 511 (nvroads.com), or call 511. A few alerts a day at most; no account, no email, and you can turn them off here any time (what we keep).

What this camera shows
Sitting at 5,333 feet, this view shares roughly the same elevation as the next camera east toward Deeth, while rising nearly two hundred feet above the lower ground toward East Elko. With no chain-control points established nearby, this spot serves as a direct indicator of whether valley rain is turning to sticking snow as travelers climb out of the lower basin. If the road surface here stays wet while the camera below remains clear, freezing conditions are beginning to take hold across the higher flat stretches.
Because passing storms often bring wind that scours or drifts these exposed miles, the live video stream helps drivers spot blowing snow across the lanes and judge actual traffic speeds through poor visibility. Seeing vehicles moving freely without throwing spray or kicking up ground blizzards confirms that conditions across this plateau remain manageable before continuing eastbound.
