What this camera shows

This camera sits at 4,418 feet, positioning it well below the chain-control points at Mogul and Gold Ranch. While higher elevations toward the state line often face active restrictions, this lower section frequently experiences different conditions. Because this feed provides a live video stream, it is useful for observing actual traffic flow rather than just static road surface conditions. Watching the movement here helps determine if backups are forming well before reaching the higher mountain passes.

Compared to the nearby Nightingale and Oreana cameras, this view provides a transition point for drivers coming from lower elevations. If this feed shows clear pavement while higher cameras display active snowfall, it serves as an indicator that chain controls may soon shift downward.
