Storm alerts
A notification on this device when chain control starts, changes or lifts, or a road closes or reopens. Pick your roads:
An alert is a heads-up that something changed, not a road report, and it can arrive a few minutes after the change. Before you drive, check Caltrans QuickMap or Nevada 511 (nvroads.com), or call 511. A few alerts a day at most; no account, no email, and you can turn them off here any time (what we keep).

What this camera shows
Sitting at 4,978 feet, this location sits far below where chain controls are ever posted, but the canyon bore can trap sudden patches of freezing moisture when storms pull through. Because the neighbouring lens at Susie Creek sits at essentially the same elevation, both points see identical air temperatures and freezing levels during a passing front.
The real value here is checking the actual approach to the portal itself. While the open route nearby reveals general snow cover across the basin floor, this perspective lets you check whether vehicles are braking abruptly before entering the dark opening, or if blowing snow is drifting across the sheltered lanes right at the cut. Monitoring the motion on the live video stream confirms whether traffic maintains full speed through the transition or bunches up against packed slush on the shaded concrete.
