Storm alerts
A notification on this device when chain control starts, changes or lifts, or a road closes or reopens. Pick your roads:
An alert is a heads-up that something changed, not a road report, and it can arrive a few minutes after the change. Before you drive, check Caltrans QuickMap or Nevada 511 (nvroads.com), or call 511. A few alerts a day at most; no account, no email, and you can turn them off here any time (what we keep).

What this camera shows
This live video stream sits right below the chain-control points at the state line, which stand at 5,006 feet and 5,019 feet about a mile away, and well above the lower Mogul point at 4,724 feet about 3 miles away. Because it captures pavement conditions just before traffic begins the climb to those higher checkpoints, it shows whether slush or freezing surface moisture is creeping down the grade toward lower ground.
Because this camera broadcasts live video rather than periodic still captures, it reveals actual vehicle speeds, tire spray, and braking patterns. Drivers can instantly see if commercial rigs are stacking up or moving smoothly into the inspection bays. Checking this view against the feed just up the slope reveals whether restrictions are actively holding at the line or likely to drop eastward.
