Storm alerts
A notification on this device when chain control starts, changes or lifts, or a road closes or reopens. Pick your roads:
An alert is a heads-up that something changed, not a road report, and it can arrive a few minutes after the change. Before you drive, check Caltrans QuickMap or Nevada 511 (nvroads.com), or call 511. A few alerts a day at most; no account, no email, and you can turn them off here any time (what we keep).

What this camera shows
Sitting at 5,658 feet, this location sits over 1,000 feet above Dunphy and roughly 400 feet below the pass at Emigrant Summit. While the lower valley often holds plain rain or dry asphalt, this intermediate bench frequently catches the transition into freezing precipitation before the descent clears. Checking this feed against the summit reveals whether the freezing deck has slid down the grade or remained confined to the crest.
Because it monitors a designated chain-up pullout on the climb, tracking the live video stream clarifies how traffic is handling the grade before reaching the top. Drivers can spot whether commercial rigs are actively pulling over to mount iron or running through unimpeded. When slush or packed snow accumulates on this staging pad while the lower approach stays bare, restrictions are actively taking hold on the slope.
